Creative writing courses
7–21 June 2008
Tutor: John Dodds
You can choose either one week or two weeks within these dates.
Whether you have a hankering to write fiction, or
to develop your sills, or just seek inspiration by
working with like-minded people, John's creative writing
workshops have something to offer you.
The workshops will be informal and fun. There will
be structured elements, groupwork and individual writing
assignments and critiques. The workshops will run
for two or three days each week and you can either
take part in a complete two-week course, or just one.
And if you are arriving for the second week only,
the workshops are structured in such a way that you
can join in easily.
The workshops will help you with story inspiration,
structure, character development, dialogue and more.
Participants will be involved in oral storytelling,
creative activities to spark ideas and group critiques.
Writing materials will be provided - but feel free
to bring your favourite writing pads and pens. Bring
your laptop, too, if you wish, though you 'll only
need it for personal writing, if that's how you choose
to write.
Read one of John's stories, Dr North's Wound online.
Download an issue of Blue Murder with John's story,
Crossing the Border. And a review of his story, The Anatomy of Seahorses (which appeared in The Horror Express,
and received an honourable mention in The Year's Best
Fantasy and Horror).
"John is one of the most
promising new writers I have read for some time. I
highly recommend his work." Michael Moorcock, author of Mother London
